Uche Fuels Comfortable Palace Win at Irish Side Shelbourne.
Despite entering their maiden continental campaign, Crystal Palace are adapting very quickly. Without key players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a comfortable result that all but secures them a spot in the Europa Conference League playoffs.
A further victory in their next match against Finnish KuPS ought to be enough to secure direct entry to the last 16, especially following a prior setback against Strasbourg.
Fringe Players Seize the Opportunity
This match offered a platform for several Palace's lesser-used players to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning since arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a clinical finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, finding the net for the second game in match.
The Shelbourne side that had concluded their league season were no match against a largely rotated Palace outfit. The Londoners were already weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee problems.
Control Established from the Outset
Despite torrential rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly took control. A slick move in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, allowed Nketiah to lay on Uche for a simple finish.
Midfielder Adam Wharton came close minutes later, driving a long-range effort over the bar. Nketiah subsequently claimed for a penalty after bursting into the box, but the official dismissed the protests.

The match was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past a series of comically weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.
After the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest key players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse came close to scoring with his first touch, only to see his shot blocked.
The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also blazed a glaring chance, indicating there is still scope for improvement in his game.
The only concern for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise positive evening for the visiting side.
